Science: The GIF that keeps on giving

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a GIF is worth, erm, more. And who doesn’t love files in the graphics interchange format, endlessly cycling through mini-animations that fuel coffee-break entertainment?!

Science GIFs have delivered so much awesome to the world in such a short space of time, we thought we’d share some of our favourites with you. And if you love these, you should also check out our list of awesome science t-shirts!


As a developmental biologist, you’d think I’d tire of these, but nope: still awesome (it's a fly embryo by the way, not too far away from becoming a larvae).
